Akershus Castle

Dating from 1299, this medieval castle and royal residence developed into a fortress in 1592 and was rebuilt into a renaissance castle between 1637 and 1648.

Akershus Castle are open for visitors from July 2nd - August 31st.

A visit to Akershus Castle is like a walk through Norwegian history from the 14th century until the present day. Akershus Castle is a medieval castle from around 1300AD. Remodelled to a renaissance castle in the first half of the 17th century. Here, you will find remains of the original medieval castle, rooms used as the residence of the Danish-Norwegian kings, gloomy dungeons, narrow hallways and majestic halls.

Today, the castle's splendid halls are used by the Norwegian government for Official functions. The castle church and the Royal Mausoleum are also open to the public.

Adult: NOK 100,-
Senior/student/groups of more than 10 persons: NOK 60,- per person 
Children (y 6-18): NOK 40,-
Family (2+4): NOK 250,-
School groups:  NOK 750,- (no ticket fee). 
Oslo Pass holders: admission free 

Audio guide in English is included in the ticket price.
We accept: Creditcards and Norwegian cash. No Vouchers.

Groups may reserve guided tours all year round.

Sunday: 12.00 - 16.00

Closed 26-27 august because of arrangement

 

The elevators will unfortunately not be available before after 2. september because of constructions.
